Goal 3 -The voice of girls and young women

GST-AIDS.jpgWAGGGS’ Vision is to be the voice of girls and young women to build a better   world.  Advocacy is about speaking out and taking action to influence others and bring about positive change.

We aim not only to speak out on behalf of girls and young women everywhere, but also to empower young women to advocate for themselves.

For WAGGGS, advocacy is about influencing people to take decisions that will improve our lives and the lives of others.

We speak out about important issues that affects girls and young women; we develop projects which directly improve people’ lives; and we educate girls and young women so they can positively change the world around them.

In the triennium 2009-2011, WAGGGS will develop the voice of girls and young women and build a better world by:

  • Delivering a global advocacy campaign by 2011
  • Establishing an ambassadors programme where girls and young women as well as external supporters of WAGGGS speak out on issues important to its members
  • Directly lobby decision-makers at national level and at international level through forums and institutions such as the UN
  • Work with partners to develop and deliver campaigns and projects at local, national, regional and global level
  • Provide opportunities for girls and young women to speak out on issues they care about, for example as youth delegates at UN conferences
