WAGGGS is the official charity partner of the International Women's Day (IWD) website.
IWD takes place annually on 8 March. The website, www.internationalwomensday.com, showcases WAGGGS and the Stop the Violence campaign, and website visitors are urged to donate proceedings from their IWD activities to WAGGGS.
“By internationalwomensday.com drawing the world’s attention to the inclusion of girls in all IWD activity globally, many more minds will be inspired, barriers broken and expectations for fulfilling potential realised,” said IWD website founder and former Girl Guide Glenda Stone.
Please consider donating to WAGGGS on International Women's Day to help us continue empowering girls worldwide.
About International Women's Day
International Women's Day has been observed since in the early 1900s, a time of great expansion and turbulence in the industrialised world that saw booming population growth and the rise of radical ideologies.
Women's organisations and governments around the world have observed IWD annually on 8 March by holding large-scale events that honour women's advancement and remind the world of the continued vigilance and action required to ensure that women's equality is gained and maintained in all aspects of life.
Year-on-year IWD is increasing in status. The USA even designates the whole month of March as Women's History Month.
The website internationalwomensday.com was founded by Glenda Stone in 2001 as a global hub for sharing International Women’s Day information, events, news and resources. The website is dedicated to keeping IWD alive and growing, and is provided by Aurora Ventures as a non-profit venture.
